MANITOBA HEALTH

In December 2000, élan Data Makers was approached by Manitoba Health to provide data capture services of information related to the distribution of blood products throughout Manitoba between the period of 1978 - 1992. In addition, Manitoba Health required data entry of all blood product information related to these transfusions for an estimated volume of 700,000 records. Each of the 92 hospitals across the province keep this data in a different hard copy format (forms/cards/ledgers) and in some cases multiple pages were needed in order to gain the full information required. The deadline to complete data entry was March 15th, 2001. During the last two weeks of December, élan secured premises in Winnipeg, Manitoba, set up 50 data entry terminals and recruited over 70 data entry operators to cover shift 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our Winnipeg data centre was fully operational by January 2nd, 2001 and our data delivery deadline was met.

INTERNATIONAL AIR TRANSPORT ASSOCIATION (IATA)

In 1994 élan Data Makers won a contract with the International Air Transport Association's Canadian Cargo Accounting Division to facilitate the processing of cargo airway bills. Since that time, élan has successfully processed over 550,000 airway bills and facilitated the distribution of over two hundred and twenty million dollars annually via EDI. In addition, élan facilitates the data entry of over 30,000 airway bills in a given two week period and the printing and mailing of over eight hundred reports over a two day period.

MEYERS NORRIS PENNY

In the first quarter of 2002, élan was approached by Meyers Norris Penny, Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors, to provide vote tabulation services for the Canadian Alliance Leadership Election. élan was required to provide equipment and staff at a secured off-site location for a period of three days between March 18th – 20th in order to open, batch and process voter ballots for the purpose of determining the leader of the Official Opposition Party.

The vote tabulation phase is the most critical aspect of the entire election project and 100% accuracy was a requirement. In addition, élan staff were required to process all votes received within an hour of the deadline for the election results. élan succeeded in providing error free data while adhering to the strict deadline that was in place.

BC HYDRO

In 1991 BC Hydro decided to utilize an outsourcing service for all of their data entry requirements. They required the services of a company that could provide them with the security needed for highly sensitive documents to be processed within very strict deadlines. élan Data Makers was awarded the contract and successfully managed the conversion and implementation of over forty-five different high volume jobs. élan has successfully processed these documents on a same-day basis with an accuracy rate of 99.9% for the last eleven years.

ALBERTA ENERGY & UTILITIES BOARD (AEUB)

élan Data Makers has held a contract to provide data entry conversion services to the AEUB (formerly Energy Resources Conservation Board) for the past 12 years. Our responsibilities include keying and verifying services for S1, S2 and S18 Production accounting documents. This data which consists of facility activity information from oil and gas operators in Alberta, comes to élan's data centre in Calgary on a daily basis. The volume fluctuates during the month from a low of 24 hours per day to a maximum of 112 hours per day. Strict deadlines must be adhered to and accuracy is of the utmost importance.

Data is downloaded to diskettes in a flat ASCII format in accordance with the AEUB's record layouts. élan has maintained an accuracy rate of over 99.99% and for this reason has become the preferred vendor over the last 12 years.

ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE (RCMP)

In 1998, élan provided the RCMP with on-site scanning and indexing services for approximately 400,000 documents. A facilities management team of 2 supervisors and 13 operations staff prepared, batched, scanned, ran optical character recognition software and data captured key index information over two shifts, five days a week. The successful award of this contract was dependent upon the vendor providing RCMP with solid assurances regarding confidentiality and security. All élan employees participating in the project, including élan’s management staff, were required to undergo clearance procedures at the level of Top Secret. In addition to the above document conversion project, élan has worked with a number of other divisions within RCMP including Commercial Crime and Proceeds of Crime. élan currently provides staff to the RCMP’s Vancouver and Surrey locations for the purposes of providing scanning and indexing services.

ELECTIONS B C

In 1996, and again in 2001 élan was approached by Elections BC to provide data entry services for the, then upcoming, provincial elections. There were many challenges involved in accepting this request including very limited lead time, large volumes, tight deadlines and, most importantly, our client's request that we key from our Vancouver and Victoria offices directly into their mainframe system.

In order to accomplish this task, élan became the first data entry service bureau in Canada to successfully implement 3270 emulation technology. This technology allowed our Siemens system to emulate a mainframe environment. Combined with a direct line into the Elections BC mainframe system, élan successfully keyed up-to 20,000 Voter Registration Cards per day and completed the project well within the established timeframes.
