Over the past several years, élan Data Makers has expanded our traditional data capture methods to include scanning, optical character recognition (OCR), intelligent character recognition (ICR) and optical mark recognition (OMR) technologies. These automated data capture methods are ideal for high speed processing of a large volume of identical forms such as: Insurance, Medical, Banking, and Bill Remittance Forms.

Digitized images are transferred to a Windows NT network via a Kofax image processor where one of our several OCR/ICR engines can interpret the alpha or numeric text and convert machine print (OCR) or handprint (ICR) into machine readable data. Batches containing characters flagged as questionable or unreadable by the OCR/ICR engines are investigated by data entry operators and corrected to ensure a high level of accuracy consistent with traditional data entry methods. Exceptional quality in the data provided to our clients is of the outmost concern to élan. Where possible, élan also implements control procedures, such as Batch Balancing, and validation of data within critical fields to catch potential misread characters during the data capture process.

élan has successfully consulted with a number of clients to provide fast, efficient, and cost-effective data capture solutions by using automated data capture methods.
